چکیده

Background and Aim: Non-invasive tests (NITs) are important tools for ruling-out advanced fibrosis in NAFLD. However, many patients still require liver-biopsy due to the comparatively poor positive predictive value (PPV) substantial grey-zone associated with NITs. AGILE-3+ score is a novel NIT which includes liver stiffness measurement (LSM) on transient elastography commonly measured clinical parameters (age, gender, AST, ALT, platelet count presence or absence of DM). Methods: In an on-going real-life study ICON-D, interim data across 42 centers over 4 years (n=8043) was analysed explore diagnostic accuracy comparison APRI, NFS, FIB-4 LSM among biopsy proven Results: Data available 381 [males:63.2%, age:42(32-52)] patients. Advanced (F3) present 70 (18.3%) showed good calibration (p=0. 474 Hosmer-Lemeshow test, 95 % CI slope: 0.82 1.218, 95% x-intercept: -0.05 0.04) our cohort The AUROC discriminating histology 0.78 significantly higher than that (0.72, p=0.001) NFS (0.69, p=0.028) but similar (0.78, p=0.78). rule cut-off (0.68) had PPV 52.6% sensitivity specificity 43.4% 61.6%, respectively. out (0.45) NPV 91.9% (sensitivity:88.7% specificity:94.2%). Conclusion: detecting histology. impressive reduction may help reducing number requiring confirmatory biopsy.

The BARD score and the NAFLD fibrosis score in the assessment of advanced liver fibrosis in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease

BACKGROUND Non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) refers to a very wide clinical spectrum. Advanced fibrosis that accompanies disease leads to the development of cirrhosis and hepatocellular carcinoma. Thus, identification of patients with advanced fibrosis is essential. The aim of the present study was to compare the usefulness of NAFLD fibrosis and BARD scores in predicting fibrosis in NAF...

Effect of Ramadan fasting on alanine transferase (ALT) in nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)

Background: The effects of Ramadan fasting on NAFLD are unknown and there are very limited studies have done in this area. Some nutritional and behavioral changes of fasting people in Ramadan can affect NAFLD. These include nutrition with high fat and calories, altering in weight and sleep and low physical activity. We decided to evaluate the effects of these changes on one of the important ind...

Validation of the BARD scoring system in Polish patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD)

BACKGROUND Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) includes a wide spectrum of liver diseases, ranging from pure steatosis to nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH), and eventually to liver cirrhosis with its complications. Identifying advanced fibrosis in patients is crucial to evaluating prognosis and possible therapeutic intervention. A novel, simple, and highly accurate scoring system called ...

The NAFLD fibrosis score: a noninvasive system that identifies liver fibrosis in patients with NAFLD.

UNLABELLED Patients with nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and advanced liver fibrosis are at the highest risk for progressing to end-stage liver disease. We constructed and validated a scoring system consisting of routinely measured and readily available clinical and laboratory data to separate NAFLD patients with and without advanced fibrosis. A total of 733 patients with NAFLD confirm...

Prevalence of gallstone disease in the patients with non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in Sanandaj: A case control study

Background and Aim: Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) and gallstone disease (GD) are both highly prevalent in the general population and have many risk factors in common. The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of GD in the patients with NAFLD. Materials and Methods: In this case-control study, our case group included 145 patients with NAFLD and control group consisted of 21...
